This one was slip potted into the current pot a few years ago but has not had a proper re-pot for quite a few years. It has finished flowering so it was time to stop procrastinating and get on with it.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_511\" style=\"width: 308px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/shibuibonsai.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/callistemon-waterswept-2013-12-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-511\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-511\" title=\"callistemon waterswept 2013 12 1\" src=\"https:\/\/shibuibonsai.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/callistemon-waterswept-2013-12-1-298x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-511\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">before<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here is the tree before. The design is based on trees that grow in the bed of the nearby Ovens river with roots clambering over the rocks in midstream and all the growth battered downstream by frequent floods.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_512\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/shibuibonsai.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/callistemon-waterswept-2013-12-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-512\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-512\" title=\"callistemon waterswept 2013 12 2\" src=\"https:\/\/shibuibonsai.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/callistemon-waterswept-2013-12-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-512\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">spent flowers<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This one only produced a few flowers at the top of the tree this year. class=\"mceTemp\">Potting mix is my standard mix with standard osmocote added.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><a pruning but the pile of old mix and roots I cut off will give you an idea how much the root ball has been reduced.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">After potting the tree back into its pot it has been given a final trim to remove the old flowers and any excess branches.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">To get flowers next summer I must now leave the new shoots to grow and mature because Callistemon flower only on the shoots that grew the previous season.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">Finally the tree is given a good soak in water then put back on its stand which is in full sun most of the day.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<div
