2025 has been a busy year for Shibui Bonsai. So far this year Neil has run a one day workshop on pines at Bombala for the “Bombala Bonsai Buddies” group in March. Shibui Bonsai has been a vendor and exhibitor at the\u00a0 AABC National Convention<\/strong> in Canberra in May. In June Neil (pictured right<\/em>) was invited to be a guest presenter at Bonsai by The Harbour<\/strong> in Sydney (our first trip to the Harbour City with bonsai) where we also had Shibui Nursery stock for sale. Neil presented two sessions – one on techniques to develop Root over Rock bonsai; the other on accelerated trunk development – field growing, sacrifice branches and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Then in July it was great to see some of the newer members from the Albury Wodonga Bonsai Society head out to Shibui Bonsai to take participate in a “Bonsai Basics<\/strong>” course\/workshop. Topics covered included bonsai care, potting up, wiring, branch pruning and root pruning with the opportunity for a “hands on” experience as well. Participants were welcome to collect trident maple seedlings from the garden to create their own maple forest.<\/p>\n\n\n

Then Neil went to Brisbane for the weekend of July 19 and 20 at the invite of the Bonsai Society of Queensland to run workshops and to do a demonstration. The following weekend we headed down to Melbourne with Shibui Bonsai nursery stock for the annual North West Bonsai show and sale at Footscray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August we headed up to Bathurst where Neil ran a morning workshop on creating trident maple forests for 19 members of the Bathurst Bonsai Buddies group. End result, happy members each with a new forest! In the afternoon Neil gave advice on “what to do next” to members who had brought in their own trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our next event will be a display for, and show entries in, the Myrtleford Agricultural Show in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
